Default whats with the 200ft restriction at round valley

Was there yesterday, and everytime im there I see people under the dam towers or right up on the rocks. Does that rule not matter anymore, does anyone ever get in trouble for it? Round valley is becoming a outlaw destination and no one gets in trouble for anything.

Over the summer, campfires on the shore, families were swimming with the giant blow up swans, F&G came in and turned around and said nothing??? There has to be a line somewhere.

.

Does it matter? What difference does it make if boats are within 200 feet of the dam?

I guess the park police and conservation officers have better things to do than shoo boats away from the dam.

On the other hand, water companies that hire security guards to watch the reservoir exert a tremendous effort to keep anglers away from the dam. Those men and women patrol the perimeters of the lake in their SUVs like they're guarding Fort Knox. When they see a shore anglers out-of-bounds or a boat within 200 feet of the dam, they jump out of their SUVs and castigate the offender with all the fervor of Superman saving the Earth from Lex Luthor. Stopping that kayaker from going within 200 feet of a pile of rocks is the greatest achievement of their life and irrefutable proof that they are truly successful and live with a purpose on this planet!

CO's dont need to do anything more than google the number on the side of the boat, see who it's registered to, click on other registrations and leave a ticket on their car.

I would love to anchor in the damns, but i've been yelled at when not within 200', i literally brought a range finder with me.

I guess I just want people to do the right thing, it's like getting flicked in the forehead nonstop.

For years I respected that 200 ft limit. Over that time I saw hundreds of people fishing within feet of them without an issue. I eventually realized that it was merely a paper rule and not something that that the park cared enough about to enforce.

As itapparently wasn't something important enough for them to enforce so I joined those who fished close to to the dams. I never once received any grief over doing so.

I liken it to something like speed limit laws. Who here has never broken the speed limit? How may times have we passed a cop while going 10-15 MPH over the speed limit, thought "Oh crap", then realized that the cop didn't even give us a second look. They are looking for people doing 30+ MPH over the speed limit. The a holes.

I think similarly, that the park police at RV are looking for people who are being jerks and going too far. Anchor to the dam or climb up on it to fish then you might find trouble

Similarly, alcohol is banned at RV, but it is quite common to see people drinking beer at the campsites and on the water. It's not like they are scanning the water with binoculars looking for people with a can of beer or going through camper's coolers. If they taciity say go ahead and fish by dam, swin with your blow up swan and have a beer, but just don't be a jerk., I'm OK with that

tycomps, yes that is. He's on the south dam. He like many other youtubers literallly film themselves under the tower bridge, climbing the dams. Im not petty so im not going to send their films to F&G, but if i do decide to go into the 200ft mark, and get a ticket, im sending in all the evidence i can of them not enforcing it to set precedent.

Briansnat- thats a good point, and gets you by in most places in life. Dont be an ahole and most people dont care.

I got the boot from around that spot last fall.. In my shoreline wandering, and with the water drawn down so low, I failed to see any of the signs. (They were 50' behind me) No ticket or anything just was told to leave after explaining my case. Wont be going back on foot anytime.. although the fishing was pretty good.

Hit up the valley this past weekend for a casting and wading trip.
