Default Q:: Spruce Run..LOW? Launch OK?

Hey fellas.
Hitting up Spruce tomorrow IF I can launch my little boat. Note: I'm likely the only dummy running an ENCLOSED landscape type trailer with a boat inside, and we just bring the trailer rampdoor rrrrrright to the edge of the water. Should be ok right?

MM

Might be questionable. If you check this link... https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nj/nwis/u...65,00060,62614
...you'll see that the res is down over 13 feet from full pool level of 273ft. You may be able to get in with the trailer setup you describe. Good luck if you do manage to get launched!

What kind of boat? With my setup, if I can't get the trailer to the water I just carry, or drag, the boat. Depends if I'm solo or not.........

I just took a drive over there on Sunday but wasn't fishing...it is low low low but this guy managed to launch ok next to the usual launch spot. This picture was taken from where I'd normally be standing in knee deep water at full pool

Unless I ran into you launching at Potash, you're not the only one. I liked that enclosed trailer idea better than my system of flipping my 12 footer over by myself everytime at the end of a long day and storing it upside down on the boat trailer and then flipping it rightside up by myself everytime I want to take it out. Doing all that and carrying 2 batteries up and down 19 steps really does a number on my back! LOL But whatever gets you out there, man.

Never been to Spruce, but you don't really need to go to the actual ramp to launch with your setup, right? So pulling up as close as you can wherever you can should (in theory) work out?

I store it in a tight space that's in the woods, so upside down keeps it from filling with water, leaves, debris, and helps keep the critters from getting into it. Well, except for a spider here and there. I kept it rightside up once, because my back was shot at the end of that day and the next weekend when I got back to it, it was full up to the open drain of muckwater and all kinds of stuff. Now I always flip it to avoid that. It's a 26-year-old aluminum in pretty good shape, and I try my best to keep it that way.

That is exactly where I have launched my boat from 3-4 times over the past two weeks. The ramp has a big lip at the end and then drops about 2 feet so it is better avoided. Last time I used the ramp itself the lip knocked my trailer completely off the hitch and I would have lost it to the depths if I didn't have it chained to my jeep.
