Default Outboard motor repair

Just starting to hit the freshwater from boat. Need some repairs on two outboards and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of where to get it looked at, preferably in northern nj. Thanks in advance.

whats the issue? 99% of outboard issues are fuel related that can be easily remedied yourself.

No fuel problems just yet. Actually, was/is a torn pull string to start the motor. Was able to get off the old string and put a new one on the 9.9motor, but the other 25motor seems like it would need something more sturdy.

if they are more than 10 or 15 years old most places won't want to work on them because a few hours of labor will end up being more than the motor is worth. best bet is to just do it yourself they are pretty simple. look up parts diagrams on boats.net, find the part numbers, then google the numbers to find the best price. search youtube for how to replace whatever is giving you trouble. that's what i do.

When it was Franks in Wanaque they did a good job with mine. It is Tackle and Field now and I'm pretty sure they still do motors.

they worked on mine too when I live up that way and frank did great work . unfortunately they don't do them anymore. it just changed late last season too. im curious if there still a minnkota repair center since frank would also do those . you could take it to greenwood lake marina or lima and sons too

I've had work done at Barnes Brothers Marine in Mount Arlington on Lake Hopatcong in the past. They did a great job on an old Evinrude I had.
