Default GAMBLER-- Weekend Wrap Up and added Shark Trips!!

Fluke fishing has been decent most trips. Catching a fair amount of keeper fluke with some short fish. Also, seeing plenty of sea bass but only a few of them are keepers. Our pool winners have been around 5 lbs most trips. The drift conditions play an important part on the amount of fish we catch; too much wind and the sinkers have trouble holding bottom --too little and we do not cover enough ground. A 10 to 15 knot wind seems to be best. We are also catching some big mackerel on our fluke drifts.
Our Nite Wreckin' trip this past Thursday was okay, with mixed sized ling up to 3 lbs. And the guys that tried for squid caught some of those too. Mostly, the Gambler was fishing in 110 ft on sunken wrecks that night.
Friday night's bluefish trip was excellent, coolers were filled with small blues and mackerel, along with a few bonito and mahi. Saturday nights trip was not as crazy but the customers still wound up with a decent catch.
Looks like good weather forecast through Sunday. The Gambler crew is geared up and ready for a good catch.
Don't throw those mackerel back! Keep them cold. Here is a simple mackerel recipe from Capt Bob:
Marinate unskinned mackerel fillets, 2 to 24 hours, in teriyaki or Italian (or almost any dressing).
Pre-heat oven to 350f.
Place fillets, skin side down in a baking dish.
Cook at 350f for 15 minutes
Mackerel are super healthy and loaded with omega 3 fats
Sunday nights Shark in the Dark trip was a beautiful night. Saw lots of things had a couple suspected shark run offs and fought one big sand tiger for about 20 minutes before he got to the boat. We are looking forward to our next trip which is Sunday August 20. We added 2 more trips for August 20 and August 27- book your tickets online now!!!
