Default bluefish tag return

A bluefish that I caught, tagged and released in Manasquan Inlet last month was recaptured and released without the tag in South Amboy 5 days later. I got 242 fish tag returns from 11 states now.

[QUOTE=BCinerie;486537]That's pretty cool. Would like to,see some of those tag results. Longest shortest farthest etc. Join the Littoral Society and become a tagger. It's fun and very informative and satisfying. The report that's published at the end of the year is very inclusive and complete. Tagged fish do survive and can travel quite some time and distances before being recaptured. I do suspect that many more tags would be returned if the commercial boats would record and return the tags from the fish in their nets. When a tag is returned and you get that little goldfish patch in the mail, it is a very gratifying feeling because so few of the tagged fish are ever recaptured compared to how many are tagged and set free. With so many short fluke having to be released, tagging them makes total sense.

Looks like you're in luck (sort of)...the Littoral Society has some facts about tagged fish returns here: http://www.littoralsociety.org/taggi...shy-facts.html

They don't have the logs on that page, but the web site has a searchable database of tag returns too.

After I caught, tagged and released a striped bass in the Delaware River, I caught it again on 4 consecutive days in the same spot and on the same bait two weeks later. The fish was in good condition after being caught 5 times. I didn't see any red marks, holes, fungus, etc. The last 2 times that I caught it, the fish acted like it knew what was happening. It didn't fight or wiggle.
