While sitting pretty still in a small 12ft channel, all of a sudden my fish alarm starts sounding and from an otherwise blank screen, I started seeing this (see photo)

I dropped some jigs and other lures and bait. Nothing. It seemed so random. I wish there was an on- water class on how to read these things and what is REALLY registering on the screen.

I don't see a photo. I agree, I'd pay for an on the water training class. Lots of good videos on you tube. Hummingbird has some with underwater camera footage of what's on the screen.

Air bubbles or fish streaking away from the boat.

I agree with this one the most. I might as well be playing a missile command video game.

I know SOMETHING is down there causing this (in photo) as well as all of the other "STUFF" I see from time to time. It sure would be nice to know for certain what is being read.

I spent the day sea bass fishing on my friend's boat last week - fully equipped with the brand new SIMRAD 3D scan with touch screen. Man was that cool to play around with - but ultimately it was still a bunch of missiles or space invaders or asteroids - just in 3D! We were still playing the guessing game all day long.
