Default Canyon Runner Stripers to 47 Pounds - 48 in a Day - Then it Was Over!

Striper Fishing was as good as it gets Friday.......48 Bass up to 47 Pounds
And then they were gone...Mostly!

Capt. Deane Lambros and Capt. Ryan Britt had a Friday morning trip with the Matt Steiger charter and a Friday afternoon trip with the Mike Fenlese charter and was on the bass all day.

Trolling 12-15 miles north of Manasquan using Tony Maja, Mojos, and Stretch Mann in 60 feet of water they had fish on constantly. Double and triples were commonplace. However the best troll bite we've ever seen saw 4 rods go down and 5 bass come to the boat. As a tandem rigged mojo end up with a fish on each.

What made Friday so amazing was the size of the fish. On the first trip of the day - where we had 22 bass - only 5 were under 43 inches - and the rest of the day wasn't much different. The afternoon trip saw 26 stripers come to the boat and again it was tough to find unders but what they did find in the afternoon was our biggest bass of the year - all 47 pounds of it!

Of course, we only kept the limit with 10 bass coming home in the morning and 12 in the afternoon with the rest released.

This week though is looking a lot less exciting. Trips on Tuesday and Wednesday so far have produced very little. 3 fish or so a trip. Tuesday's morning and afternoon trips saw just that. Wednesday's trip right now is seeing the same thing. Just a few fish. However - like last week they are still beasts - all the fish are huge!

Hopefully they come back in numbers again - but like always - when it blows that hard out of the east like it did Saturday the fish swim away and only luck will have them swim back to us.

Fingers crossed!

Yeah... big difference from our last trip too... we were out trolling everything yesterday morning from SRI heading North and couldn't find a fish this time

Same results for me yesterday trolled from SRI north all the usual spots not a touch. Big difference from last Friday. A lot of my fellow fisherman from the Belmar Marina came back with the same results
