Rock Bottom Weekend BASS/BLUES

WEEKEND BASS REPORT

This weekend we had a trio or bass/blue trips which all saw some bass.

Saturday we had out Jerry and his crew . Started trolling right away because of the readings but nothing. Moved to a different area that we heard were getting some and started picking at the bass on the troll. Had a couple keepers right off the bat and then it was all shorts from there. And most of the shorts were barely short which was aggravating. Had about 10 shorts and the action died so we heard about a bluefish bite and jigged a bunch of jumbos until they shut down and we headed in.

Sunday morning we had out Chris, a couple of his buddies and their sons to try and get in on bent rods. Started where we had them Saturday with some marks but no fish. We got a call from a couple guys about a quick bass bite and joined in on the action right before it ended. Had 2 on as soon as we started and the boys landed them-both keepers as well. Made another pass and had one hit with the rod about halfway out, this one being a short. Made some more passes but the bite shut down and the wind picked up. Everyone was happy that the 3 boys were able to each fight a bass. Kept an eye out for some blues but never saw any.

Sunday afternoon we had out Bruce and his crew for big bass. Guys were ready and pumped the minute we left. Wind never died off and actually picked up as the afternoon went on. Had a call from our buddy about a big bunker school nearby with some whales so we went over there and snagged some bunker. Made a couple drifts and then finally had 2 hits and they missed. Had another hit which would turn up to be our one and only bass. A nice 25lber tho. Kept working the school and had another hit or 2 and then it was bluefish after that until the fish left and the bait scattered. Trolled the area for a bit with some readings and just one hit but nothing so we then headed in. Guys had a good time. Wish we could've had more bass this weekend but at least it was some action.
