Default LBI - Day Nine - 7/10/16

Didnt fish yesterday but we didnt miss out on much as they didnt even have a keeper fluke for the day just sea bass. So Dad and I skipped the first trip and only went out on the afternoon trip today. Broke the inlet at 1pm and headed down the beach. We had a WNW wind at around 10-15 id say. The drift was kinda fast but with 4oz was fine for me. Dad and I started hammering the shorts right off the bat. Every time we dropped down we would get one. The action was there. Im sure we both got around 15 to 20 shorts for the trip each. I dropped down and got a keeper that i didnt think was big enough so i swung it and the mates checked it and it was good so dollar fish again for me. Next drop i get another keeper. Dad had a rough day with the keepers. He was cursed by the shorts today. Was beautiful out there today! Not too hot and the sun shining.

Ended the day with just the two keepers.

The pool fish was around 5 pounds and get this. The lady who got it hand lined it!!! Used the hand line spool with 100 pound test to a 10oz sinker then to a basic fluke bait rig. I couldnt believe it when they told me. I had to go ask her and she says she does it often and catches fish with it. Pretty cool. She was only in the 2 dollar pool not the 5 so she missed out but whatever. I have seen people use the sidewinder but never a hand line set up fluke fishing.
