Default Weekend Fishing Report (5-21/22)

Hey guys. Here is my quick weekend report. Woke up early and went to Mahlon Dickerson Reservation for some smallie action (knowing the LMB are still spawning and not sure about smallie spawn). Anyway, fished till bout noon. Not a single hit. Saw all the LMB on their spawning beds but left them alone. Let them do their thing. Hate getting snunked so headed to a local pond. Fished for about 30 minutes and nothing. Put a swim bait on and let is sink till it reached bottom. Started reeling and BAM!!! I though it was going to be the biggest bass of the season so far. To my surprise, and big Pickerel came out. Didn't have my scale but the cheap gripper I had was at 5lbs. WOW, I was pleasantly shocked cause to my knowledge, this pond didn't have picks. Ok, rush over and threw swim bait out and repeat same tactic. BAM!!! holy Sh!t, even bigger fight and drag is peeling. WTF, an even bigger one. Brought the fish to shore and grabbed the line, one tail whip and the bruiser snapped my 15lb flouro leader. landed in some brush, so it wasn't a terrible fall for the fish. Back in the water and grabbed by 2nd pole with a grub. Repeat as above. BOOM!! same deal, another giant guy comes out. All within 5 minutes time. I know you may be thinking same fish, but it wasn't. The pictures don't do it justice, but each one was bigger than the next. I was struggling to get the fish and me in the photo without one of those silly selfie sticks. Oh well. I wish I would have measured too, but them fish were in the 5 to 7lb range. Rush over.. got hungry went home. Spent time with the wife. She realized she had to go hang out with my sisters and left. So what's a man suppose to do....???????

Time to go fishing again.

Hit another local pond from about 7 to 8:30pm. I understand it was a Full moon too. Boy the bite was on. Caught a total of 10 LMB. From what I gather, fish in the rockway area are done spawning while the fish up in higher elevation (route 15 and up) are still on the beds. The fish were nailing any dark colored 4 inch senko. Here are some pictures. kept catching the usual dinks and 1lb-rs. The two in the photos are the champs of the day. Nice and healthy females.

Sunday, only got to fish the evening after 6pm. Hit two local ponds, saw plenty of fishermen, saw no fish being caught. I landed one small LMB and that was about it.

Report over.

Looking forward to the spawn ending and the LMB strapping their feed bags on!!

Awesome! At that size, you cant even call them darts! They've graduated to slime torpedos.

Looks like the full moon had a positive effect on the Bass and Pickerel, while the night time fishing over the weekend slowed down. Nice work.
