Default Winter Flounder

Looking to prospect for the flat ones, prolly in Belmar. With the warm weather and no ice I suspect it could be decent. Anyone know who is open for bait? Going from shore for now.Thx.

Call Fisherman's Den in Belmar, they're a site sponsor. Their number isunder tackle and bait shops above. If you go, please post your results. Wondering what impact the dredge operation had on winter flounder in Shark River this past winter.

Maybe all the movement there will attract the mother load. I know limit stinks but it's something I can do for cheap from the bank with the kids. The boat doesn't go in till April & even then it's 50 cents in gas.

If you can't find worms, try some mussels or small clams from shoprite... they are a lot softer than surf clams, but flounder love that kind of a snotty bait.. Cast them gently... bob

Mussels and clam strips are excellent for flounder

You got it, I used to go crazy mixing dog food, mussels, corn and what ever else but know I am a purchaser. There is a very good winter flounder fishery in BB bay on the flats and around.

The current water temp is like early April so they may be more active than usual at this time of year. I plan to hit the Belford and Leonardo flats in my kayak and give them a shot later this week.
