Default A few rainy day pike

With the temps still great, I hit the river for 90 minutes this morning in a different spot. What started out as a very light rain, ended up being a steady downpour for most of the trip. The rain a couple of days ago stained the water a little, but it really didn't raise the water level at all. I am sure todays rain will bring the level up, to get at a few more spots.

I wound up with 4 pike, all under 30 inches and missed one that felt a lot better.

Still a great couple of hours before heading to work.

dan, how do you like that tarpon? im thinking about picking up a paddle yak for small freshwater spots in my area this winter off craigslist/etc. i have a hobie revo(i think you have a hobie also?) but its way too much boat for the spots im looking to use it and a total pita for 1/2 hours worth of fishing.

Yes Phil, I have a Hobie Revolution also for the salt water. I love this Tarpon 120 and have had it for about 10 years. It's a perfect kayak for fresh water and used in the salt also before I had the Revo. The only down side for me is that it is a little heavy to transport and carry. My next fresh water kayak will be a little lighter and maybe in the 10 foot range.

cool thanks, all the tarpons get great reviews and seem to be really durable(probably part of why they weigh so much). i have my eyes on a 100 on craigslist, but im not biting until late winter. its a good time of year to shop for used yaks, thats for sure.
