Porgies! It's What's for Dinner
Late update from Sunday. Sailed out of Shark River to the SR Reef with my cousin Carl and his two, new to saltwater fishing, friends Doug and his son Dougy. Flat calm and very warm for December. Nice ride out. Quickly found a spot with some life on it. Anchored up and it was lock and load jumbo porgy fishing. Unfortunately to the father son team, it was the kind of slow roll that can get you and that it did. They hung tough and fished through it, but after 28 fish it was clear they had enough and we headed in. Left them biting. Some truly large spiny dogfish on the wreck. Also had one of the bigger Porgies of the day get bitten in half. Vicious.
