November 9th Blacks and Blues
Our crew of 3, consisting of my dad, his friend jamarle and me left SRI around 630am. Off asbury, we ran into birds diving, blues breaking and insane marks on the fishfinder. We casted jigs and shads and we caught blues blues and more blues! These fish were spitting up peanut bunker. After an hour of drop and reel blues (not a single bass) we broke out the crabs and prepared for some blackfish. As soon as we anchored on our spot, and all conditions died. No wind, no current and we flipped and flopped all over the place. The bergals were out in full force today making it even more difficult to get the blackfish to turn on. Around noon the wind picked up out of the southeast which gave us some conditions to re-drop the anchor. As soon as we came tight, my dad yells "fish on" and it was game on until we ran out of crabs.
First time blackfisher jamarle held up pretty well landing 4 keeper-sized blackfish ORL. I had 11 keepers sized fish ORL. My old man who has been red hot this season, hasnt shown a sign of slowing down just yet. He had 23 keepers to 7 pounds. Very frustrating to be the one standing next to him when he goes "oh man this is a real one" as his rod is bent over. One day soon ill finally catch up to him.
What a beautiful day, flat seas and 65 degrees...
