Riva yest evening with livebait and co. 7/23/15
Spoke to jimmylivebait earlier in the evening yest. BS'ed and made no plans to fish. I guess he got the same itch I got bc I arrived about 10 mins after he did on the river LOL... Him and his buddy had just started fishing as I was rigging up. His buddy nailed a nice eye about 25" early on. A bit after jimmy nailed his pb...26.5" on the button. Gorgeous fish with a monstrous tail. Congrats bud! About an hour later jimmy nailed another eye... This one much smaller. Small plastics on jig heads proved fruitful. As the nights winding down, I switched to a plug from the soft plastics. I'm slow rolling it through some fast stuff when I get walloped. Line starts dumping and I tell jimmy and his buddy nick that I've got a solid fish. They make their way over as I'm fighting this fish. I'm thinking I've got a double digit walleye on, but my head lamp did not reveal the tell tail glowing eye. Fish made a turn upstream and starts to tire out. Get him along the shoreline and was floored. It was an 8-9 lb flathead! Couldn't believe it. It rocked my 5+" plug with no prob. It was euthanized and consumed this evening. Not bad at all. My step son enjoyed it too. Here's some pics. Catch em up!
