Default Salt water Keys kayak trip recap

I know this is the fresh water section, but there are quite a few kayak guys on here that may enjoy a little different type of fishing.

I went on a kayak trip and stayed on a boat for 5 days, out of Key west Florida. The trip was GREAT, but the fishing was just OK. We mostly fished about 30-40 miles from Key West and spent most mornings trying for tarpon in the flats.

We had many tarpon encounters, but none of us hooked up with any. The barracuda and sharks did a real number on out soft baits, but we did land quite a few.

We did better jigging in deeper water with many snapper, grouper and other delicious fish caught.

I also just bought a Gopro camera and still trying different positions and setting for the camera on the kayak, and this was my first attempt at getting a video. This was a couple of weeks ago in the western sound near Da Bronx.

I love the last seconds of the video with the water dripping down the lens.

Still have not found a good amount of time for pike, but maybe I will just let a few spots get a good rest before the pike-a-thon !!!! LOL

Wow lucky you Dan .You sure know how to enjoy yourself. Fishing in paradise for five straight days can't beat it. Been researching The Keys for a few years now but have yet to pull the plug and book the trip. My problem is I won't be able to fish every day as I wish because I would be bringing my wife along during her spring break. Can I really leave her alone every day on vacation? It wouldn't be right. lol
