Default Weekend report Manasquan river

Hey all,

My brother and I decided to put the partying at the bars on hold this weekend and do some hard core fishing. We collectively put in about 20 hours of fishing from Friday night - Sunday night. All of our fishing was done on foot and here's how we made out. During the day our main focus was fluke, Saturday was totally dead with only getting 1 baby fluke on a gulp, we were fishing closer to the ocean so I think the cold water had them lock jawed, the water was also full of seaweed, major buz kill. Saturday night was a different story, we worked with the tide and tried a few different tactics to tempt weakfish or bass floated sandowms by the train bridge scored us a half dozen short bass, one being right under 28". After we ran out of worms we followed the tied back toward to canal. I worked my 1/2oz waxwing in pink and my brother an sp minnow in purple, it was game on with blues 2-6 pounds with each of us landing at least 50 each, my brother hooked onto something much larger that spit the hook after one good thrash, couldn't make out what it was but he swears it was a weakfish.... Doubtful..

Sunday back to fluking, hit a spot in the back bay looking for warm water, which we did, we had a great time catching about 2 dozen shorts on 1/4oz bucktails with gulp, no keepers... Fish were only hitting it if you retrieved supper slow with a little pop here and there. We fished into sunset and ended up battling blues until the bugs drove us out.

Great weekend not boozing and spending time with my brother, it definitely made being back in the office less painful today.

Go catch them up
