Who needs stripers and blues??? We got the 'bows all to ourselves in Hunterdon!!!!

Dr. Bones woke me up at zero-dark -15am and this time he brought along a newbie, Ed "Eggmaster" Semper, his next-door-neighbor who decided that after living in this country for 30+ years and never having wet a line, today was as good a day as any to give it a try.

Bones and I did not disappoint.

Starting out on our little honey hole on the Cap that has been so good for us the past couple weeks, it took one cast to get them chewing, and soon enough I showed Ed how to pull back on his first-ever USA fish. (Hes from Trinidad....no trout down there).

One fish.....and we have a newly-baptized, fresh-as-a-daisy, fish-a-holic!!!!!!!

Man its been a long time since Ive seen a newbie enjoy the thrills of first casts, and learning how to put bait on hooks, and fight gently enough NOT to lose a fish.

WE made one wiggle on the stream to a hole I thought might pay off with even more fish, and Sheeshe!!!!!!!!

Eggmaster went ballistic!!!!! He was so into the moment....laughing when the fish jumped....calling them names...he even jumped into the stream once to retrieve a fish that came off just at the shore! In regular pants and shoes!!!!!! Completely oblivious to the fact that he was getting himself soaked!!!!!! Awwww, man!!!!!! If seeing a newbie get THAT excited at losing a fish isnt the best thing that those of us who have been losing fish for years is, than honest-to-God I have no idea what is!

I looked over at Bones and in that moment, we both just smiled at each other with big-ole grins!!!!!

Stripers and blues?????? Sea bass???? Meh. To me, being on a beautiful little stream, and having it completely to ourselves.....catching our limits to enjoy with friends and family...letting go a bunch more to fight another day....and breaking in the next Fishing superstar from Union County. Im good to go.

(eggs of any color worked today...mealies....and yellow panthers martins....anything you threw in got attention!)
