Default March 16th and counting down.

Get your fill now. Trout fishing in most water(ice)bodies ends at midnight on the 15th. The closure affects just about every brook, stream, and river but it affects some lakes and ponds as well. If trout are being stocked in a lake or pond or reservoir, it's a safe bet that those areas will be closed to ALL fishing! Read the regulations before you go especially on ice covered lakes even if you are fishing for panfish or pickerel or pike. A few trout stocked areas are open but not all of them. Don't assume that because a lake is still ice covered that you can drill holes and fish. Read the regs!
