Weekday M&G: BIG MUSKIE!

I met up with Mark, a couple of Mikes, Eddie, Lenny, Pete, and Bill this morning for a weekday meet and greet. The day started off slow. Mark saw a few walleye on his screen but they didn't want his bait. We got a couple of perch and around 10:30 while we were at a perch flag one of my tipups got hit 20 yards from where we were standing. I got to the hole and the spool was spinning slow and steady. I set the hook and knew it was a nice fish but I had no idea just how big. When I got it close to the hole I saw it was a nice muskie and I got nervous. I had 4 tipups set up with 80lb floro and big suckers, but this fish hit the 1 tipup I put in for walleye that was rigged with 25lb floro and a 5" golden shiner. She swam around the hole for a few minutes and then sat right under the hole, that's when we saw how big the head was. I tried to get her with my boga but that just pissed her off and she went on another run. Eventually I got her back to the hole and grabbed her, the biggest fish I've ever landed through the ice and new PB muskie at 46". We snapped a few quick pics and back in she went. What a fish! The rest of the day was slow, some perch and sunnies were jigged up. It was fun hanging out with everyone and I still can't believe I landed that muskie. It's a fish I'll never forget.

Witnessing this MONSTER coming through an 8 inch hole was completely bonkers. I don't know how Matt got the head turned, AMAZING! We were gathered around the hole confused and baffled on how the hell this fish was going to get iced. Boga, no good, trying to grab her, no good, next grab here she comes up through the happy icy hole. UNREAL!!! Very happy for you Matt It's been a banner year and theres still plenty of time left, WOW!

Congrats buddy!!! You deserve it. By far the biggest fish I've witnessed coming through a hole. Great hanging out and meeting some of the guys! Thanks for the hot dogs too!!!

Awesome monster!! I think I might have to go fishing with you all I see is huge fish from you, Muskie, Pike and carp....Every single one of those fish are huge lol What is your secret?! I must learn! Haha

Wow holy crap! Right by my house...while I'm stuck at work damnit! Congrats man. Way beyond being lucky, that's some crazy skill and experience if you ask me! Did you have that tip up rigged deep outside the weeds or over a deep weed bed or what?
