Default Solid Cod Fishing

Went Cod fishing Wednesday 1-14 and had a blast! 27 keepers caught to about 9 lbs out of approximately 60 fish caught. Nothing huge, but I believe the largest fish caught on the boat was about 24 lbs. The catch was made by 4 fisherman from Jersey who represented the state well. Fished from the Snug Harbor Rhode Island Port and had a comfortable 2 hour ride out to coxes ledge. The catch was made on about a 50/50 jig to bait ratio.

Thanks. It was a lot fun. I chose to jig my ass off all day rather than slinging the snot. Some drops were better than others, but for the most part the action was solid.

Is that the closest ride (car) to get a good Cod trip in? Tired of treking all the way up to Green Harbor Mass every year.

I agree jigging is where it's at if they are biting. If not I'm slinging the snot I'm a lazy a**

Montauk, Moriches, maybe closer ,however the action seems to be on the ledge for now.

Usually the quality fish are caught jigging when your drifting. There were times times when we hit certain areas that one was better than the other. Switched to the snot when we were in this one area and it seemed as if that was the way to go and it paid off with 2 keepers on the last drift.

Great job and nice to see Da Baccala showing up even if it is a little north of us

I have only fished with clams for Cod and on charter boats

I am looking to this on some party boats now and looking for some general suggestions here

I have the rod and reel customer rod and Avet reel and use 60 lb braid ,need some help with the jigs

what kind of jigs do you guys use? Red and green do well and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks everyone and fish on
