Oops, we did it again(on the jenny lee)

I joined "dah fish", Sven of the hook and a couple of lurkers on the jenny lee's season finally. With reports not being "great" the capt Dave gave us an option. We thanked him and said let's go. Off to the races Thursday morning with a great forecast of 5-10 going variable (eff you NOAA). The fan never turned off and it was never pretty!

Anyway, we get the spread out and it does not take long for the way way back line to start screaming. Kevin grabs the rod looks over and yelled "who wants it"! I don't remember if I stepped forward or Joey stepped back but I got the rod. Start reeling don't feel much and figure I have a skippy or somethin. Then the rod comes to a dead stop and starts pumpin (ah oh) now he knows he's hooked and I know I'm screwed. I call for my belt and harness and the game begins. Almost an hour later I have the fish straight up and down but I am two minutes away from needing CPR, so I call for a closer. Todd jumped on the rod but after 10 minutes and harness issues he hands it off to Joey. 10 minutes later we have our second big eye in as many weeks! I would have liked too have beat the fish myself but it was more important to me to get this first fish in the boat, and I was done! It's all about team work out there including boat handling. That's why the crew of the jenny lee puts fish on the deck.

We set up for the night with the wind still blowin and we decided noaa needs a comment section on their website I think Joey got the next fish on the chunk, a nice LF. then it went quiet for a little while. Sven in the meantime went nuts on the squid! He caught them by the dozens.

Around midnight the deep rod goes off and a short time later we have our second sword in as many weeks! Next came a pup which was set free and we missed three more deep bites thru the night one which we came tight on and felt like a VERY nice sword. Fought him for a while and he became unbuttoned.

Morning came and we jigged another longfin then it was up on the troll. Joey fought another longfin Which was lost boat side. That would be it, but once again it was enough to make a great trip. I should also mention two nice mahi on the afternoon troll, one of them a bull (for these waters).

I think everyone was happy that we decided to go. As alway capts Dave and Kevin were aces, as was the rest of the crew.

PS: a younger shrimpy would have landed that big eye on his own

Another great trip shrimpy that big eye put a hurting on u I bet ur feeling it today a younger shrimp man could have finished him too funny . Until next year when we can spank em again on the Jenny Lee great boat and crew and good friends
