Default More Fall Trout, Nice Brown

Went on another trout journey last Friday. Rains the day before had the water moving a bit but the fish were hungry. Put in a good couple miles of hiking and wound up with a bunch of fish. Caught a handful of recent stockers, a couple wild browns, and the fish of the day, a nice thick holdover brown!

Also managed to miss a good 4-5 fish. In one spot I caught a small wild brown. A few casts later I hooked another bigger one and he jumps 3 ft out and shakes the hook... A bit later I caught another I wasn't sure about. Small brown about the same size as the stockie bows but not quite as colorful? Not sure if it was stocked or wild?

Definitely a good day! Nice weather, good fishing, and had the place to myself! Wish I got a better pic of the big Brown. Snapped one of him in the water, reached down to grab em for a quick selfie and he shook it out. Eh, wasn't gonna keep em anyway......

........

.........

Haha, thanks! Those stockies do look like good size bait don't they.... Unfortunately I don't think any of them were actually keeper size?? Plus, I doubt I would have got any of em home Alive, lol. Would have made good jerk baits though......

Actually, I'm hoping after being caught once or twice they may smarten up and make for some decent holdovers for the coming season.......

I'm thinking the wild browns are stacking up at waterfalls...they move upstream to spawn, or so I suppose. So Monday I'm going to a deep pool with a small waterfall at the head.

I was at one just this past Tuesday. Chock full o bows! The last time I was in this particular spot all I caught were Browns... Up to 16" or so.

Nice report and an even better way of thinking!!!! If more anglers thought about the future fisherie, jersey would probably have a much more sustainable trout fisherie as apposed to the primarily put and take fisherie that exists now...While we do have a handful of rivers that have a decent native trout population, more like minded anglers would improve our trout fishery ten fold...Gr8 report and gr8 catching...

The best thing that YOU could do to improve our trout waters is to pass on that train of thought to future anglers, whether they be ur own offspring or youngsters getting into the sport....
