Default The hybrids, my friend, are blowin' in the wind! 10/18/14

Met up with Dale and launched the GetANet in search of stripes on Saturday morning. Got to the lake and it was glass-like. It sure as sh*t didnt stay that way... In about an hour or less, the lake went from flat sheet to a washing machine with wind honking at 20+ mph. It made trolling tough but we stuck it out and managed as best as we could. Had a few short strikes and a fish dropped at the boat before we finally started boating them. We adjusted depths all day long and there was no real pattern as the fish were scattered throughout the water column. We wound up with 6 fish to 21" but probably couldve had 10-12 considering the number of short strikes we had. To cap the day off after an unreal adventure (which Dale can tell if he pleases lol), we had a nice double header. We tried to keep fishing after that but the wind beat us down something proper.

Interesting tidbit of the day: 2 of the hybrids we caught throughout the day did something we've both never saw before. 2 fish on 2 separate occasions ate 2 baits! Dale pulled one in and it had 2 of our hooks in its mouth. Later on in the day, I pulled in a fish that did exactly the same thing--one in the tongue and one in the roof of its mouth. Pretty cool to see them feeding so voraciously.

Here's the porn... Catch em' up!

So....On those single fish double knock downs....Do each of you grab a rod fight it together??? That's cute haha

Good work sticking it out and fighting for those wind wipers.

.

I saw you guys out there Saturday afternoon in GetANet's very distinctive blue boat. I wanted to paddle over to you to say 'Hi', but the strong wind and waves made it too dangerous. I was taking on water from the waves smacking into the hull of my kayak. I had to open up the scuppers and let the water out. I was beginning to get apprehensive about the prospect of capsizing in the rough water.

I had to chill out on the 'beach' for a while and get my bearings. I was able to do some fishing from the shore and even fish in some of the less violent coves until sundown.

Despite losing a lot of time fighting the water, I was still able to catch-and-release two hybrid stripers, both around eighteen inches. I also caught-and-released some big Channel Catfish and some smaller Largemouth Bass.

If you don't mind me posting a picture to your thread, here is one of the hybrids I caught from shore.
