Default Blowfish

Read a report that people were catching blow fish in the Manasquan River area and saw pictures of a few nice ones caught on the Angler. Does anyone have any information if they have moved into the Manasquan river and where they're being caught. It's been years since I've caught one and would like to give them a shot if they're around. They gradually seem to be making a come back each year and would be great to see a resurgence both for the quality on the table and how much fun they are for kids to catch.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dakota

Hey Dakota, Take a ride to the end of Bay Ave in PP, and check out the pier, around the docks there, and in the square pocket at the grey condos. Most are 3-4inches, but a few fat ones are in there, and on the canal itself the blackfish are hungry. Catch 'em up.............Papa

Papa,

Thanks. Good to see they're around. I remember how abundant they were many years ago and then one year they just disappeared from the planet.

I'll probably be out in the Barnegat Bay areas on Sunday. Heard scattered reports of some finally showing up.

I'd been thinking about taking the kids for puffers for a couple of years and the o.p. gave me the motivation to finally give it a shot this past Sunday. Anchored up at the mouth of the PP canal by Bay Head, threw out the clam log, and had our first puffer within 5 minutes. Took a while for the kids to get the feel, but after about an hour and a half we caught 20 puffer and 3 small sea bass. Everything was small, but so were our fisherman. Great time.

Nice work! I was out Sunday and tried 3 or 4 spots without a touch. Felt like tuna fishing trying to run around and find the warmer water. I had from 56 degrees to 62 temp break! Lol. I'm prolly done with the blowy's this season.
