![]() Big crowd showed up for the sea bass mini-season extravaganza. No fish showed at the dock this morning. Sea bassing was slow with some nice keepers coming up on the drift. Once the current got to quick, we moved deeper for ling. We had one very good spot out there with more medium and even some larges which had been absent on my recent trips.
I wound up pretty good with 6 1 1/2-2lb sea bass, a flounder and 23 ling. Young had the big pool with a 4lb fluke and he had some ling. Guy a few slots down from me had at least 5 double headers on the good ling spot. Lots of not so experienced fishermen out today so catches were a bit lower than the quality of the bite. One helpful hint is listen to the mates about sinker weights and rigs. Another is to use the rod holders. Many people don't seem to know what they are for, eventhough the name adequately explains it. ![]() |

![]() What part of the boat were you fishing? I was fishing starboard, mid boat and every rod holder was occupied. Sounds like you had a great day. Unfortunately, it was an off day for me. Only managed 2 keeper seabass and a handful - maybe 5-6 ling. The bite just never turned on for me. A few folks at the bow did pretty well and some a few spots down towards the stern (both starboard side) also had a nice amount of fish; more ling than seabass.
