Reel Class Saturday 8/9 Fluke Limits + to ~8#!
Had the SWABC tournament today and Larry and crew on board for another shot at some $$$..
Left early and shot out to where we caught them yesterday. Shorts and a few keepers - bite was OK. By 630 the area FILLED with boats and we had about a half dozen boats get right in our line, so after a few more shots we took off to a new piece.
This area was loaded and we had it all to ourselves for awhile. The guys banged away at nicer fish, we had 3 fish in the 6-8# range here, the first by Tommy, the second by me, and the third by Fred which was just under 8#. We continued picking and plucking here, getting as many as 5 keepers a drift.
By around noon time we decided to go look for a bigger fish - so we made a few moves, even went offshore to fish some deeper stuff, but that was to no avail as the bite completely died. (Our last keeper came around noon time)
Called it a day at 4. Wound up with an limit + for the guys with some extras -- we had 3 fish over 6#, about a half dozen over 5#, and the rest (excluding 2) were in the 3-5# range. Real nice day - our best day fluking this year! Fred's fish (just under 8# - don't recall exact #'s) put us second in our port for the SWABC tourney - congrats to Fred for banging that fish and getting his limit +. Tommy also banged out a limit + and Ryan had 4. Again, a great day, and hopefully fluking is FINALLY turning the corner!
