Default Pt pleasant elks report

Fished the elks on my boat with John, Tony and Mike. Started off on local snags with nothing to show but a few shorts. Did that for a few hours knowing we wanted to make a long run but also knowing south wind was coming in afternoon. So, we put on our big boy pants and decided to make the long run anyway. Glad we did.

Found a pile of big fish including numerous 4-5s, a couple 6s and weighed in two at the Brielle scales at 7.5 and 8.2. The 8.2 was good enough for 4th place. The 7.5 just missed the cut. Was surprised at the 8.2 weighing as it was a 29.5 inch fish. We had it over 9 on Tonys boga but I guess bogas aren't always right. John did a great job running us back many miles into a stiff south wind in time for the 330 deadline. The new Contender handled real well in tough seas coming back. Had a blast with this crew. Left em biting but had a long ride back. Congrats to Dan and all of the other winners. Al
