Fishing, Fireworks on the FishMonger 2
My grandson wanted to go saltwater fishing so i was planning on taking him out on my boat this Sunday. While talking to Capt. Jerry during last Sundays charter he says bring him down Thursday afternoon, we leave about 6pm, go fishing for a few hours then pull up to the beach and watch the Point Pleasant
Fireworks and then back toi the dock for 10pm, sounds like a great idea. I was already contemplating sea sickness and bathroom breaks on my boat!
I have to tell you Jerry and his crew go out of their way to make this a memorable night for everyone. He had three mates working the trip, Nate, Bruce and Nick. They supplied rods, bait and encouragement to each of the kids There were 8-10 kids last night as well as parents and grand parents. Jerry made sure we were over fish and the catching began. Seabass, Ling, Blackfish, Sea Robins, Bergalls and even a Sundial were caught. Each catch resulted in praise for the angler and help getting a hold on the fish for a picture, rebaiting and back to fishing. The mates were great and the kids will never forget there first experience fishing in the ocean.
As it got dark we cleaned up and cruised into the beach to join a flotilla of boats waiting for the show to begin. It was a real nice display, better than some others I have seen and the kids loved the on water view. After that back to the dock and time to head home.
I spent the fishing time baiting hooks and unsnagging Grandma, hooking fish for the grandson to reel in. Everyone had a great time and if you can I would highly reccommend this trip to anyone with kids. The new boat is great for this activity, very safe with plenty of room.
The trip home was only marred by the construction traffic on the Parkway but everyone in the car agreed with my grandson, "That was cool, can we do it again next week?..." That is all we can hope for, someone else hooked on fishing.
Thanks Jerry and crew.
