Default Surf for sharks

Hello all,
I'm usually in the fresh water section but I'm at the beach house and have a question. I'm right next to IBSP, and would like to try the surf for some of those browns that are around. I have the gear, just looking for ANY info since this is my first try do something like this. ANY info is appreciated. I tried yesterday an couldn't hold bottom with 10 ounces so it was a wash but gonna try again today, hopefully it calms some

If you don't have heavy surf... Grind up chum - get a chum bag and nylon rope and keep it out there until the chum gets washed out. You can fling it pretty far but have extra rope to walk it back up onto the sand. Attach it to a spike and dig it into the sand so it doesn't get washed away. Mine was makeshift but you get the idea..
