![]() First time fishing Millstone. It looks like perfect pike water with murky water, numerous logs and snags
but alas no pike. Hard to fish from bank as your standing ten feet above the water most of the time. Wading is out as the mud is deep or the bank is too steep. Did manage 7 chain picks - two biggies at 24 " and 26" - along with a few bass - including a smallmouth. Covered about 3 miles. Lotta walking. Not much in the canal. Although its fairly level with the trail, numerous bushes and trees block casting. Nothing on buzzbait so I switched to a small spinner. Picked up a bunch of sunnies and a few more pickerel. http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/Bu...%20June%202014

![]() The Millstone is a tough nut to crack. They have been throwing pike in there for years, where did they all go ?

![]() Yup. Not sure where they are. I threw my buzzbait at every piece of cover I could see sticking out or submerged and nothing. They should be there but they don't seem to be. Strange. Maybe they should put transmitters on a few of them and see where the heck they go!

I read somewhere a year or two ago that there are a few natural springs that seep into the river. Apparently the pike hang near them. No idea where they are though. Bet you could find them just drifting in a canoe or kayak reading water temps though. |

![]() I would stay away from the Canal. No fish in there!

![]() Last winter in the bit of open land that runs between Millstone River Road and the river between Blackwell Mills and Amwell I noticed some springs that had melted the snow that geese were regularly sat in so the the natural spring theory may make sense and may be in that vicinity.

![]() Friend catches small pike in the river on micro spinner baits. Think the mini or micro strike kings but all he ever catches are small to medium ones at least that's what he told me
