Reel Class Saturday 5/24 Bass - Fluke
Had Larry "Fluklemaster" and crew on board today for their annual fluke opener trip, albeit a day late. Our plan was to mix it up for fluke and bass as things progressed through the day.
We made bait and filled 2 livewells completely in about a half hour right outside our inlet, then headed north. Found some life where Kenny caught them Friday night and had one fish on, but unfortunately the leader chafed right above the hook and we lost the fish. We went up on the troll for a bit, but had only 2 knockdowns, so we took a ride up the beach to go fluking.
We had some bites, not many, and had about 15 shorts and 1 keeper in the 3.5 hours we fluke fished. We fished in tight, out in the rocks, etc. It was just very slow.
Back to bassing later on, and we finally picked a few bass to 30# on live bunker. We also had a few more on and dropped them and had several other runoffs.
Overall it was a nice day with a great crew!
