D&R Feeder Canal Muskellunge
I was trout fishing in West Trenton at the D&R Feeder Canal this afternoon. I had three poles out with night crawlers on since nothing was going for any of the lures I had tried. I had two nice browns in the bucket and was getting ready to leave when I noticed a big wake coming up the shoreline on my side of the canal. I thought, must be a big carp. As it got closer I saw it was to big to be a carp, it had to be a Muskellunge! And sure enough it came right by me in about 2 feet of water. I only had light trout rods with me with 6 lb. test line so there wasn't much I could do. I'd guess he was about 4 feet maybe a bit more and real wide maybe 12"-14". I had heard of them and even saw a guy fight one in there once from a distance, but this was my first up close encounter. Wow is all I can say. I'd love to try and catch one on the right equipment and I think thats going on my summer list of things to do.

Re: D&R Feeder Canal Muskellunge
Damn that's one big fish! I've caught a few small muskies approx. 16 inches in the canal in Southbound Brook. I got them while jigging a 4 inch mr twisty, and hitting them on the head with it Good luck on catching it, make sure you bring a net
