Default Fly tying for beginner

Hello im thinking of starting to tie my own flies. I am interested in tying glo bugs, stoneflies nymphs, caddis nymphs etc. What tools are essential?
Is a kit worth it? I am a beginner and do not want to spend $200 just to start out. I have never tried tying and always bought my flies. I know I can find tutorials of patterns on youtube but im not sure where to start. I was looking at the Griffin Superior 2A Fine Point Vise for $50 and i was wondering if anyone has tried this vise and how is it? Thank you

I know its too late for this season but I highly recommend going to the Fly Fishing Show at the end of January up at Somerset. From all the fly tyers who would gladly show you how to tie anything, to what to buy along with all the vendors with all supplies or equipt you could ever imagine...

I've used a Renzetti vice for a long time. I would buy the best vice you can afford. There nothing more frustrating than the hook not being held securely when your building a fly. I would not buy a kit. There are to many items in a kit you will likely never use or are of poor quality. If you have a small local fly shop in your area, it is probably worth a visit as fly tyers seem to love to share their knowledge. Orvis has a fly tying manual out called the Art of Fly Tying. This book is very helpful with techniques and has quite a few patterns with tying instructions. If you look thru a tying manual, find the patterns you want to tie. There will be a "recipe" of items listed to build each specific pattern. Those are the items I would purchase. It won't be too long until you have boxes full of hooks, thread, furs and feathers.
By the way, you'll know your addicted when you don't pass up a road kill squirrel tail.
