Daiwa, Shamano and Okuma all had booths at both Rockland and Somerset show last year. If you can wait that long, that's the best chance to see the most.

Slap an avet mxj on that bad boy. Can't go wrong and reasonable price. I catch everything in our waters on it.

You purchased a "custom" rod from Mike Garone and did not ask for his opinion as to what reel would match up with it or where to look?

post picture of finished rod. What blank was it built on. As for reels many good choices depending on your preference (Star or lever drag) Make sure to bring rod with you when purchasing reel to make sure it balances properly.

Cant help you with up North, but think you should wait for the shows as said or come south to shore tackle stores. Heres some of what I found:

lefty star drag: Akios , Calcutta 400b, Saltiga 30, Abu Revo Toro Nacl 60
lefty lever drag: Avet, Accurate 400, Canyon, Atlas, PE, Penn Squall (lever or star)
I have been researching this for hours and hours last several days. As far as which reel is best, don't let anyone tell you its "this one"...its ALL just opinion. Problem is you will not find many lefties to handle and most will have to be ordered. Take your rod and slap on the righties for weight and balance and then order. Lefty Avets are more readily available at tackle stores and on line. I am having a tog rod being built starting tomorrow on a seeker blank either med S hercules, super togger, or Seeker sw 808...not sure probably going to par it with an Accurate 400 extreme. If you want more info of what I found, and of course my opinion, and compare notes feel free to PM me

awesome deal. these reels are discontinued, and are going for $500-1000 on ebay

i scoured the internet and got a sa20 (i am a righty) for about the same price a couple of months ago. can not be happier.

i had carbontex upgrades done by alan tani's partner jim nomura.

if you do not like this reel, I would imagine you can sell it easily.
