![]() I would like to try this. Always go on the party boats but money is tight and I want to fish. I have waders/felt boots that I used to use freshwater fishing.
Would they work on a jetty? Any place in northern jersey (above belmar area) that would be worth trying? what about raritan bay area? bridges? etc... any suggestions or recommendations would be helpful. |

![]() Shark river inlet at the tips: jetty spikes a must for safety, there are some jetties with good structure beyond , one place for sure would be the longer jetty at deal esplanade road in deal rocks go out almost 50 yds under the water to the ESE,E,and ENE, just be prepared to lose some lead. Good luck

![]() I've done this a few times every year. Catch a few dozen green crabs and head to one of the inlets - Shark River, Manasquan or Barnegat. Fish are always there.
Honestly, I suck at it. The regulars that are always there outfish me 5 to 1. There are typically a few pockets or rocks in the jetty that are better than other spots. Helps to know where they are. I have felt waders. Sometimes I won't go out as far as I want to because it's not safe, especially on IBSP. Felt is good but Korkers are better. Rig is simple. I’d need to check but I think I’ve been using a 1oz weight with a #2/0 hook a few inches above it. And lose a lot of rigs, especially during a strong tide. I would guess that there are fish anywhere where you can find structure.

![]() If you don't hit them, you MUST move around. You will find them, but I will NOT give my favorite spots up

![]() Ha! I know where you fish. Your picture on your post is a giveaway. Saw you last week coming through the canal by boat from bass fishing. But I wont tell any one, since that might be me fishing next to you? Ha! Are you still catching them as good?
