![]() Funny how everything can be subjective. If we had the catch today a week ago when we all were struggling I'd be reporting that it was very good fishing. After the excellent bite we had the last few days though it was just pretty good. We had a few limits and a bonus limit including Ralph's pool fish of 19 lbs. Many had one, some none and a good amount of shorts.
We also lost about a half dozen fish to drags that were too tight on light line. BEFORE you start fishing set your drags, guys! A little loose is better than a little tight, you can always tighten the drag after hooking up if you must but you can't loosen it after a big bass busts you off. Also, I'm a huge fan of light tackle but party boat jigging is no place for noodle rods and light line. My preferred setup is a stiff 7 ft rod rated 20-40 lb line and 30 lb mono on a conventional reel. Something that can handle a 6 oz. jig and set the hook with authority. Leave the fluke rods at home! Wind and weather look great for tomorrow! |
