Angry Saturday report 9/21

Hit the lake a 6:30am nice and calm slight breeze overcast, once again seemed like should be good. Once again NOT! Conditions deteriorated quickly as the wind started cranking and the sun came out shortly after i was on the water.
Marked random fish here and there didn't seem like typical hybrid marks and i found out why. I landed a 13' inch black crappie. Fished the norm spots and looked everywhere in between shallow deep points coves couldn't find em anywhere. Managed one more 15' inch black crappie in the back of the lake.
Battling the wind all day finally decided to wrap up shop about 4:00pm totally unlike myself but frustration got the better part of me. Basically two weeks with out producing a decent catch. Had the Binski's but couldn't find a decent school to work so bagged that idea too. I managed a small hybrid drifting a flatline as i was wrapping up the equipment on the way in but all in all another weak outing. Starting to play with the idea of runnin north very soon!!!!
Start working the BIG POND for some Brids and EYES!!!! OR the other pond up the street for some smallie action.

Sorry to hear of the tough day Dale. Tom and I were out Fri evening and pretty much the same thing. Picked up one Hybrid about 9 or 10 inches in like 4 hours. Think were going to have to change our tactics if were going to keep catching them. Maybe something like the fall tactics like used at LH or just go to the big lake, but I really like SR and would like to figure out a pattern there. After two bad weeks I'm staying home today and regroup for next week. Any ideas out there?
On another note I hear the eye action is picking up on the Big D.

.

I was at Spruce Run on Saturday, too. You may have seen me.

It really was windy. I had to seek shelter from the strong wind in that little cove by the police station.

They're letting the water out. The reservoir dropped like four feet in the past two weeks. Maybe this is affecting the fishing?

Either way, the fishing was really slow on Saturday. When I got off the water at like 6:30 pm, it appears I was the last watercraft on the water. I guess everyone got skunked and went home.

To avoid the skunk, I chummed heavily and caught a couple of small channel catfish that I released.

Its gonna start getting tought to catch fish with the summer tactics, u gotta remember the water temps are dropping slowly. The wipers on LH have already started moving to deeper water, its actually making it a little tuff up here too. All summer I could check 3 or 4 spots in certain depths and bam there were fish there, setup and start catching. Last 2 weeks theres fish around but u start heading out deeper and theres fish there too, they spread out and it actually makes it tough to keep on em. BUT in 2 weeks they will ALL be out in that deeper water, so it goes back to 90% of the fish in 10% of the lake theory. The fish are going to be sticking close to their food source, so as the bait balls start to get big and hang out in the deeper water, the wipers will be near by u need to hover around them unless u wanna drift/troll thru them over and over
