Received a good report Sunday from another fluker to run out to the Coney Island area. Fished in and around the channel for two hours. Seven other boats in the area and not one fluke. The bottom is loaded with big mussels and some rough stuff. Real nice area that can hold fish. But the fish most of moved away from the area already. Not even a short.
Went to Ambrose Channel next where we caught four right away including a 4 lb'er. The drift got too fast so we went to bouy 6 in the SHC. We caught fifteen more including three between 3-4 lbs. First time we had a good bite late in the day in a long while. Most of the fish were caught on jigs with stinger hooks baited with Shop-rite smelts.
It's going to be a sad day for me when fluking closes. Not looking forward to the closure. I'll be lost for sure.
