Default Ocean Explorer's Bounty: 8/12 Report

Today, I had no defined duties today, so with the whole day open I hopped on the Ocean Explorer. I opted to stay closer to home this time, so that made the choice clear.

Capt Bobby started off fishing inshore and offshore of the Long Branch Rocks. A few keepers and shorts were brought to hand. The slow drift was a major player.

Around 9:45 AM, after the boat worked those two areas, Bobby went to the Shrewsbury Rocks. Good move, as after the tide slacked, the NW wind picked up, and after a a quick move a few miles inshore, the boat had good action. Also, a large cameo appearance of a large school of 10-18 lb CHOPPER BLUEFISH(Yes, believe it!), busting adolescent Bunker added to the rationale of moving inshore. Nice fish in the 3-6lb range were banged.

Around 12:30, Bobby moved back closer to home on a nice rock pile back at the Long Branch rocks. There was some nice fish here, including a 8+ lbder picked up by a fare.

I had 3 keepers up to 25 inches (one lost at the boat). It was a nice day out, and it was nice to have some good conditions for the most of the day.

Thanks Capt. Bobby for a good day! I was impressed, as he adjusted the boat perfectly to the drift, trying different angles and positions to give one side or both sides there turn. Hope to come out with you guys again soon. You guys run a fine operation.
