Reel Class Friday 8/9 Report
You gotta report the good with the bad, and today was just one of those days. Had Joe's group on for a half-day trip today. I gave the guys the option to reschedule but they couldn't so we decided to run the trip.
Ran outside, ocean wasn't too bad, a nice 3-4' chop so we set up on the sand down the beach a tad and had some action with short fluke n seabass. As the morning progressed, the S wind intensified and our "nice" 1.2 kt. drift became a 2.2 kt. drift in no time. Seas got a little tight and bigger, but we kept at it.
By 10:30, 16 oz. was not holding, so we headed for the river to finish up the trip, and again had some action with short fluke on the inside and one borderline keeper.
Wound up boating around 30 shorts for the day and the 1 borderline fish - the guys had a great time but the weather made things difficult. Back at it tomorrow - supposedly NW winds!
