Great shot!

I know that spot in the river well, passed it by thousands of times. Spent my youth catching flatties, weaks and clammin in that creek. My relatives built the big Dutch Colonial that was a few houses away from you that was sold and torn down a few years ago for a new modern look. The only dwelling left standing from the 3 acre compound is the barn/garage what is now across the street. It was converted to someone's house way before I was born.

They settled in Brielle because they were avid bird hunters in the early 1910's and heard about some great marshlands that held lots of birds. They used to hunt back in the glimmer glass and up river before the canal was dredged and as the family story goes ruined the duck hunting and changed the ecosystem of the river. Then came the Brielle sportfishing scene and progress.

Tons of stories and seeing family pictures of tuna being caught right off the beach. I sure hope John is still catching them up in heaven on his "Miss Cayman"

Boy do I ever miss that place....
