Default Shad in the D&R Canal

I thought I'd seen it all until yesterday when I saw a shad in the D&R Feeder Canal. It wasn't doing to good tho and looked like it was about ready to die. I guess it must have made a wrong turn at Bulls Island. BTW yesterday was the first day I was skunked fishing. The trout were in there we could see them schooling up but they wouldn't hit anything, lures or bait and we tried everything. I hope they are hungry this afternoon.

There's TONS of big gizzard shad in the canal. I just foul hooked one the other day in one of the lochs. Never seen an American Shad in there yet, but nothing would surprise me in the canal.

It was an American Shad. Wish I had the camera with me when I saw it. Like I said it wasn't doing to well and I guess it ended up as musky or snapping turtle food.
