Re: Shad in clinton SBR
I got one in Callicoon NY 233 miles from the ocean. I don't know how shad would pass the head gates at Duke Island Park to get to Clinton ?

Re: Shad in clinton SBR
I agree with andy......pretty sur that would be impossible for them to be that far up unless someone put them there....they would be able to get over the dam at the pumping station but i doubt they could get over the dukes dam....We would need water levels similar to the levels during irene for that to happen....could have been small herring out of spruce run....
Any idea on the size of these aleged shad? I've caught them in the beaverkill and in the upper west branch, not targeting them just good accidents.....this was about three yrs ago

Re: Shad in clinton SBR
Headgates??Do you mean the pumping station?
The only large dam , besides the clinton dam, is the Duke island park dam...All other existing dams are relatively small... Like you said maybe someone transported them there..... All it takes is a few guys fishing the dukes falls , catching below the dam and releasing above the dam....Pointless i think, as the fish would be trapped above dukes for good....Until they spawn and die , anyway....
