Default First Trip Out

Hello All. I am finally back in business with my trailer that was split in two from Sandy. I am gonna head out on Monday or Tuesday. I know this forum isnt about given the hot spots away but if someone could message me an approximate location in the raritan that would be great. No too familiar with the bay since i usually fish in LBI. Keyport Flatts?

If you launch in Keyport or Leonardo you will be in the zone..
What I would do is make sure you have plenty of bait.. clams...

I would search for some decent marks, and fish in the vicinity.
If you don't have a good sounder, you have a bit of a problem.
In that case keep your eyes open, and bring binoculars. You'll see plenty of boats in certain areas, and they aren't there to swim, party and socialize. They are most likely striper fishing... Head for the general area, and set up shop. Do NOT crowd anyone!!!
Really just see where the charter and party boats are fishing and you will know the fish are around... Give them a LOT of room, find some fish of your own, there will be plenty of fish to go around..
Bat a few clams after anchoring on a likely spot, , toss them and the shells around the boat, and bait up.

A good way to find fish is drifting whole worms on a 3x 3 rig.. If the stripers are around, they likely will not refuse a juicy sand or blood worm..
You cover a lot of area when drifting, as long as the wind isn't screaming.

When you buy your bait and supplies, ask some questions of the guys behind the counter about where and how.. The shop owners really want you to do well, and are not as closed mouth about productive areas as the members here are.

Get out there, use clams or drift worms, and you should get your share. bob
