Default North Branch 10/18

Well i drove to Lebanon to get some bait and figured today I would try some stream action. After not much advice I drove around for a while and checked a few spots, most places seemed low and slow. I ended up at the NB off 206 where i have done well in the past. Walked along the stream for a bit looking for some moving water and ended up finding a hole loaded with suckers and about six to eight nice rainbows swimming around in the hole which were all about 15 to 18 inches long. I was all amped up cause i was the only one there and had caught nice fish in that hole in the spring. I fished for three hours and couldn't buy a bite, I tried worms, shiners, spinners, I threw the damn kitchen sink!!!!!! Nothing. They would swim right up to the baits and look at them then swirl away time and time again. Never had a rainbow turn up its nose at a nice juicy baby crawler!! Left finally wondering WHAT'S UP WITH THAT???? Everybody else seems to be catching on the streams. Any advice and streams that have been good lately would be greatly appreciated. I don't want your spot just some general area's.

2 weeks. Go back. Fish will be hungry by then, along with all the other rivers.

Big fish = stored fat. They may not munch now but soon they will.

I feel your pain. I have only been able to get out at lunch and I have found fish every day yet with the same results as you. My go to stuff has yielded one brief hook up with a fat rainbow. Just keep at it like everyone has said they will get hungry. Right now the hook ups are caused more by aggresive reaction than hunger so you need to punch them in the nose with you lures and even then it is a toss up if they are going to be pissed off enough to strike. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yup, the fall stocking is really fishing, not like the spring. Brookies always take a week or two before they start biting well. Next week and into November these fish will start to hit- good luck.

Most people in the shop have been having spotty luck but when one hits, it is normally a beauty.

never been good at prolonging gratification, it was gorgeous yesterday, and I had a few hours to kill so I hit the NB as well. Waded down river and found a pocket stuffed with 14-16" fish. Threw everything at them as well with nary a follow. Next time I go back with hellgremites, worms, and powerbait.

They'll be hungry in a couple weeks boyz. In the meantime go catch a Walleye, Smallie, Pike or Musky. Or you can go over to the Valley for the Bows and Browns. Plenty of other options.
