Default Attacked from above....

Hit 2 bridges today from 5-7pm and got the skunk... but I did see something funny as hell... It was about 6:45pm and really starting to get dark.. I decided to take a few last couple of casts before I would decide to leave... I was tossing a popper with a twin tail grub trailer.... As I was casting I had one of those pretty big seagulls or whatever they are fly up and land next to me about 6 feet away from me on the bank as I was fishing.. I thought nothing of it and continued to cast away.. Well, on one of my casts and retreive this seagull decided to chase and start attacking the popper in the water... lmao I was trying to reel this popper in as fast as I could but this Seagull kept attacking the popper, picking it up and dropping it, picking it up and dropping it... this thing kept attacking the popper all the way to about 3 ft away from me from the bank... at one point this seagull had my popper about 30 ft in the air trying to fly away with it... Im just thankful I didnt hook it.... oh well, just though Id share this crazy story...

Sounds like a good catch, lol.

One time I was fishing over there and, while driving over the bridge, some tool decides to chuck an empty beer bottle out his window and into the river. Almost nailed me with it!!! What a douche. Thought about throwin it back but didn't.......

Thats kind of funny because when I was there a similar type of situation happened. I was throwin a jerk bait and the gulls tried to snatch the thing out of the water for literally about 25 minutes consistently. I find it kind of strange because Ive seen plenty of gulls on another parts of the river and they never reacted like that.

I have had the same attack from seagulls while fishing a weedless jerk bait on Farrington. Picking it up, dropping it in midair, and coming back again.

Thank goodness the bird was only getting the plastic and not the hook. I guess they attack a bait on instinct and release it after there is no taste. Hunger may trigger the second and third attempt?

Waited a little while and tossed a crank bait till he flew off and returned to the pattern.

By the way how has everyone been doin at two bridges? I havent gone there in a solid month with the water being so low there it was almost pointless it seemed. I got the skunk atleast 3 times before I decided to hunt for a few new spots which turned out in my favor luckily .

Last time out (yesterday) the Water is really low and most of my go-to spots are exposed with no cover... Im still working topwater and I got a few half-hearted swipes and misses but still skunked... That hasnt happened to me in a while

dont feel bad...I dropped a big smallie probably in the 4lb+ class more in the fairlawn area and missed a monster strike on top...the fish really arent commiting it seems like..Ive thrown some slash baits and jerk baits and theyll follow and even bump the baits but just arent really taking it for some reason. i have noticed though alot of bait pods in the passaic lately so that could have something to do with it. Im probably going to hit the passaic tomorrow morning in search of the striped ones if anyone is interested. Im obviously going to be fishing below the dundee so if anyone would like to join shoot me a PM.
