Default Trout help

Theres been allot of talk lately on trout tactics and everyone has their own opinion so heres mine.I am by no means an expert but I have logged many hours over the past year on streams and lakes making 2-3 trips per week.First off is your tackle-go lite this means no more then 6lb test with 4lb being optimal most of your offerings will be small and very little weight and the lighter line will increase you cast and get you down deeper.I use quantum size 10 reels and a fast action triumph rods, and yes there is big difference between a st croix a ugly stix. When fishing streams a stiff rod will allow you to control and pitch your baits easier in tight spots. All streams are different what works at the musky might not work at the south branch so dont become stuck on that trusty panther martin that slayed them last weekend.Travel lightly, all I bring is my rod and a small plano box that I tuck in my waders,in my box are 3 or 4 rapalas silver and gold, roostertails, martins and andy specials. When you arrive at the stream of your choice only work a spot for few minutes and move but keep in mind if a spot looks fishy cause to get back youll pass that spot again and fish it from another angle.

i've also switched to florocarbon line. i fish freshwater mainly for trout in streams and feel the floro give that little bit of an edge over mono, especially in skinny water. i use upto a 1/4 spinner in fast high water. as you said fish a spot for only a few minutes but make sure you fan cast around. i try too hit all the likely spots but have caught fish just casting around into not so fishy looking spots.
