Default Assumpink

Decided to go out and try some freshwater fishing which I rarely do. Loaded the canoe and headed for Assumpink Lake. When we arrived there were lots of boats out but we noticed the lake had a thick green slime so we drove over by the Dam, appeared to be a turquoise thick paint like substance floating on the surface. Does anyone know what thats all about. Did not fish headed for Colliers Mills and caught a couple of small picks.

The stuff you saw on the surface was likely blue algae. Warmer temps the last few days probably caused a bloom. If there's a lot of it, best to stay away until it dies off. First couple of really cold nights should take care of it.

Thanks for the information. Was worried someone had put an end to another lake in NJ. Stopped by Prospertown Lake, what a shame that was a beautiful lake to fish. Turnmill Pond where they transfered some of the fish was slow, only caught a couple small picks. Thanks again for the response.

Saw the algae bloom on Assupink about 2 weeks ago. Fishing was tough. Sorry to hear it was tough at Turnmill, it it very hit or miss there. The front of the lake is the best part, lily pads are usually dead believe it or not.

What would you consider the front of the lake at Turnmill? I was there last weekend and the gate was closed on the east side of the lake.
