Rvr 9/10
Got out early yesterday and arrived in the parking lot at 5:30 and had plenty of company with the RVTA September tournament being held yesterday.
Not sure how the trout fishing went on the big lake but it was a lot of work on the swimming lake getting a bite. In the dark I quickly hooked into a little rockbass on a big spinnerbait. When the sun broke I used surface lures and plastic worms and there was nothing doing. After a big splash nearby at around 8 AM I hooked into a decent bass which was my lone bass for the day. Before finishing up around 11 AM I did some playing around with 2" Gulp minnows rigged weightless-Texas Style on a 1/0 EWG hook. I caught a red-breasted sunfish and 2 bluegills in a matter of minutes. I was quite impressed with the action on that, it remained upright had a very slow sink-rate and almost suspended when stopped. In a couple of weeks when the waters cool I'm going to try it out on the big-lake for smallies and trout. Obligatory pic of the day's catch.

Last night...9/10/11....another decent night even with a full moon going in and out of the clouds. 37 Rainbowns btw 15-19 inches...two Browns, one 4 lbs and a boat load of blue gills/rock bass, all on shrimp. No Lakers or Catfish this trip. Fished the south pine from 8 - 3 am. Plenty of reports floating around......... |
